WHEEL of Fortune fans are furious with Pat Sajak after he allegedly messed up a puzzle before the contestant could answer.
Viewers called for his dismissal.
During Monday’s episode of Wheel of Fortune, contestants made assumptions at the start of the show.
With very few letters on the board, one wonders, “Can I buy an ‘O’?”
Vanna White taps on the board, revealing the letter, much to the delight of the guesser.
Pat responds, “It was unexpected,” which some fans thought was his attempt to lend a hand to struggling contestants.
Viewers flocked to Twitter to weigh in, slamming the show’s host.
“Did Pat just say ‘That was unexpected?’ when a player bought an ‘O’ in a puzzle containing the word ‘unexpected’? It is out of the game,” they wrote.
Another disgruntled viewer wrote: “Did pat sajak just drop the ball and prematurely call an unexpected turn of events???”
“Earlier, did anyone else hear Pat Sajak almost give away the wheel of fortune puzzle?” someone else intervened.
A fourth fan tweeted, “Pat just gave that one away!”
Fans have grown increasingly unhappy with the longtime Wheel of Fortune host over the years.
Many believe it’s time for him to hand over to a new host after a tenure that spans decades.
Last month, viewers expressed strong opinions about Pat online.
Another Twitter user simply wrote, “Wish Pat Sajak would retire from Wheel of Fortune.”
A particularly terse third viewer didn’t mince words, tweeting, “Pat Sajak has been ad**k for years.
“Especially in Vanna.
“But now he’s getting more d**kish with competitors. Pull the a*****e.”
In December 2021, Pat celebrated 40 years of animating Wheel of Fortune.
This isn’t the first time fans have called for Pat to be fired.
In April, the National Enquirer reported that the Wheel of Fortune team had in the past complained about the host’s behavior.
The publication dealt with the longtime host’s alleged behind-the-scenes antics as his colleagues allegedly pleaded for him to be fired.
A member of staff reportedly called the 75-year-old a ‘pompous asshole’ and hoped ‘he either goes through the program or gets lost’.
Despite Pat’s long career as the host of the popular game show, he doesn’t seem to have too many fans on set.
Pat – who would make $15 million for his hosting gig – recently celebrated his 40th birthday on the show.
However, those working alongside him weren’t in the festive mood when the milestone date arrived.
A source told the media: “It’s no wonder no one on the show mentioned his 40th birthday as a host. He’s not a very popular guy. »
The harsh comments come as the TV personality‘s behavior has been questioned, particularly his remarks towards co-host Vanna White.
Viewers slammed an “inappropriate question” he asked the hostess last week.
It all started innocently enough, when Pat asked his longtime co-star if she was an “opera lover?”
Vanna, 65, replied: “I’m not a fan, but I love opera.”
That’s when the Chicago native made an unfortunate ad-lib.
“Have you ever watched opera in the buff?” Sajak pushed, adding, “I’m just curious.”
Vanna replied with a “No” and burst out laughing.
“Shame on Pat for asking Vana if she watched the opera in the buff!!!!” A fan wrote.
“Someone please replace this man.” another viewer added. “(Pat Sajak) is absolutely inappropriate to ask (Vanna) if she watched the opera naked? Are you serious? Disgusting.”
While a third called on the show to review its sexual harassment policies.
“I felt Pat was over the line when he asked her if she had watched a particular TV show in the buff. It was inappropriate, none of her business, and creates an uncomfortable and also not good working relationship. for viewers.”
The clip in question has already been removed from reruns on the show’s official YouTube channel.
Pat himself didn’t specifically address the controversy but seemed to announce it in a recent tweet.
April 5th Game Show Legend tweeted“You know, it’s been over a week since I left the show, displayed erratic behavior, cheated someone out of their earnings, or insulted a player. I’m due.”
Pat sparked controversy again when another comment he made to Vanna resurfaced online.
In a highlight sent by the official wheel of fortune social media accountPat and Vanna celebrated the day in 1997 when the giant letter board went from manual, requiring Vanna to turn the letters herself, to digital, requiring only a press.
While explaining the change to viewers, the host improvised another controversial comment.
“It’s the last night of this puzzle board. You won’t be turning any more letters,” Pat said, referring to his co-host.
“The new board…it’s heat activated if you will,” he continued, before making the side comment, “And if anyone can heat a board, you can.”
As Pat tried to continue, Vanna seemed to force an uncomfortable laugh.
