Trial of Ghislaine Maxwell – British actress and star of American soap opera among alleged victims of mistreatment by Epstein’s ‘madam’, jury said

GHISLAINE Maxwell’s alleged victims include a British actress and an American soap opera star, a court has heard.

Maxwell faces six charges of sex trafficking and abuse as she faces a jury for her alleged involvement as a “madam” in the twisted web of multimillionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Prosecutors say she “served” young girls to Epstein as part of a pyramid scheme of abuse during her New York court appearance.

Epstein and Maxwell rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous of the world – allegedly hiding in plain sight amid a gruesome sexual abuse ring.

And she’s a close friend of Prince Andrew, who is said to be the one who introduced her to Epstein.

Her lawyers deny all charges against her, argue that she is nominated by proxy for Epstein and must portray the alleged victims as being in it for the money.

It was revealed in court yesterday that one of the three anonymous victims is a British actress, while another is a star of an American soap opera.

The third unidentified victim was also attacked by the Maxwell defense team as having a “dangerous lifestyle”.

And the only publicly named victim of the three is Annie Farmer, the sister of another Epstein victim, Maria Farmer.

Maxwell’s attorney, Bobbi Sternheim, claimed that “since Eve, women have been blamed for the bad deeds of men.”

She said: “Ghislaine Maxwell is not Jeffrey Epstein or any of the other men, tycoons and media giants who abuse women.”

The defense will attempt to argue that it is a “scapegoat” and should expect a large part of its case to rest on the prosecution of victims.

“The government is trying to pull together four different stories,” Sternheim said.

“But the only common denominator is that they got big payouts. They’re cutouts. The charges aren’t covered.”

However, the prosecution paints a very different picture of Ghislaine as an instrument of Epstein’s money, sex and lies network.

Lawyers called the 59-year-old British heiress a “dangerous predator” and said she and Epstein were “partners in crime”.

Maxwell is said to have tricked 14-year-old girls into a “nightmare” after promising them “the world”.

She is accused of bringing girls into Epstein’s liar where she watched him assault them – and sometimes even participate.

Opening the case against Maxwell, prosecutor Lara Pomerantz said: “The defendant helped Epstein find these girls, she helped him recruit these girls for so-called massages.

“She preyed on vulnerable young girls, manipulated them and served them to be sexually abused.

“Make no mistake, she knew exactly what Epstein was going to do to these kids when she sent them to these massage rooms.

“But what was going on in those massage rooms was not a massage. These girls were not professional masseuses. They were sexually exploited and abused children. “

Pomerantz explained that Maxwell and Epstein had been in a relationship but remained “best friends” after their split.

Thanks to the financier, Maxwell was able to maintain a luxurious lifestyle.

“She was involved in every detail of Epstein’s life. During the ten years, they committed these crimes together. She was the hostess, ”she said.

Epstein’s pilot, Lawrence “Larry” Paul Visoski Jr, was called to appear as the prosecution’s first witness and said the couple had a “more personal than professional” relationship.

He added, however, that he would “not classify him in the romantic category”, claiming that they were “a couple”, but that he had never seen them kiss or hold hands.

The exact charges against Maxwell are:

  • Conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in unlawful sexual acts
  • Incitement of a minor to travel to engage in unlawful sexual acts
  • Conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity
  • Transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity
  • Sex trafficking conspiracy
  • Sex trafficking of a minor

The pilot said Maxwell would manage Epstein’s households – including hiring staff and decorating his homes.

Epstein committed suicide while awaiting trial for sex trafficking in August 2019.

She also faces two other perjury charges over allegations that she lied in a deposition in a separate civil action, but these will be tried separately.

It is unclear whether Andrew, Ghislaine’s friend – who vehemently denies separate allegations that he slept with a 17-year-old trafficked victim – will be mentioned in the case.

Maxwell was suddenly arrested in July 2020 by the FBI after being accused of going into hiding because of the allegations.

She was detained because she was considered to be at risk of absconding and has been repeatedly denied bail.

The daughter of disgraced newspaper mogul Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine was born to a wealthy life and raised in the 53-room Headington Hill Hall mansion.

Working in various roles in her father’s companies – including as a director of Oxford United – she has become a prominent socialite in London.

Her father died in 1991 after apparently falling from his yacht – named Lady Ghislaine.

It is from this point that it is claimed that Maxwell became close to Epstein and that the abuse would have started in the 90s.

Epstein was first convicted of sex offenses in 2008 on a single charge of soliciting prostitution from girls as young as 14.

Some 11 years later, cops finally charged him with a larger conspiracy to smuggle minors in Florida and New York.
