Armstrong told viewers this morning that he went for the extreme makeover after responding to his own mother’s requests to tidy up his look.

“She texted me [saying]”You would make me feel a lot better if you shaved my face and had your hair cut,” and I was like, “Okay …”, “he revealed.

The sight of a well-cut, fresh-shaven Tony Armstrong left some ABC viewers stunned – and they took to social media to say they barely recognized Tony’s new look:

It comes after the ABC last week announced a new Tony Project for their 2022 roster: The former AFL player will host a three-part documentary series on dogs and their relationship with humans called A dog’s world Next year.

The sports and occasional journalist The project The panelist embraced his crush status earlier this year, briefly launching an OnlyFans account to raise money for charity.

Armstrong became the full-time sports presenter on News Breakfast in July when he replaced Paul Kennedy.

He said at the time: “I don’t take it lightly when it comes to the new role.

“I understand the importance of having representation for my people on screens.

“I love being a part of that – and I love that giving me the opportunity for ABC to be a part of it as well.”
