Radio personality Elvis Duran and his syndicated weekday morning radio show are sponsoring a blood drive in Jersey City to help ease the nationwide blood crisis.
“For the past few weeks, the Red Cross has had less than a day’s supply of critical blood types and has had to limit blood product distributions to hospitals,” said Rosie Taravella, CEO of the New Jersey Region of the American Red Cross. “We appreciate Elvis Duran and the Morning Show for taking the initiative to sponsor a campaign and amplify this critical need.”
The community blood drive is scheduled for January 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hudson Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 2 Exchange Place. Parking will be validated for all donors at One Parking, located at 10 Exchange Place. Use of the Hudson Ballroom is generously offered by the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Blood and platelet donations are essential to help prevent further delays in life-saving medical treatment, and donors of all blood types – especially type O – are urged to make an appointment prior to arrival and are required to wear a face covering or mask during the event.
To make an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter the sponsor code ELVIS or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
Donors will have the chance to win two premium tickets to Jingle Ball 2022 at Madison Square Garden.
“I’m honored that our show can help the Red Cross in this time of critical need,” Duran said. “Blood is the one thing we all have in common and by helping with that motivation we hope to influence others to come out and give.”
Additionally, the Red Cross and the NFL team up during National Blood Donor Month to encourage individuals to donate blood or platelets. Those who come to donate blood, platelets or plasma in January will automatically be entered for a chance to win a getaway to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.
Plus, those who donate will also be automatically entered to win a home theater package and a $500 e-gift card. Conditions apply; visit RedCrossBlood.org/SuperBowl for more information.
