LAUREN Laverne was back at the helm of The One Show yesterday.
But the regular presenter sparked a full debate online when the show’s viewers got too distracted by her outfit.
Although she is an experienced television host and radio DJ, Lauren has been part of The One Show’s relief presenters since 2021, as a replacement for Alex Jones.
Last night she was joined by Jermaine Jenas on the chat and welcomed Nick Grimshaw, Emma Willis, Scarlett Moffatt, Monty Panesar and Marianna Spring.
For her stay on The One Show couch, Lauren opted for a long-sleeved blue and white dress paired with black and white Converse trainers – but had no idea she was at the center of a media breakup social.
Viewers were torn as Lauren presented the show, unable to decide if they liked her outfit or if her dress was an unforgivable fashion faux pas.
Some took to Twitter to post harsh comments about the dress, with one viewer comparing it to a “tent”.
This viewer angrily wrote, “What is she wearing is a blue mermaid tent?”
But another viewer was clearly a fan of the garment: “Where did you get your dress from, it’s beautiful.”
Many other comments poured in.
“Does anyone know where the Lauren Laverne dress she’s wearing on The One Show is from?” a third social media user commented, trying to get Lauren’s attention by tagging her in his post.
Another added: “Why is the girl on the sofa wearing a tent??”
“Why is Lauren Laverne wearing one of Demis Roussos’ caftans?” quipped a fifth viewer.
Luckily for those desperate for the dress, fashion-forward editor and hairstylist Nina Pottell discovered where Lauren purchased it.
“Alice Temperley’s Somerset at John Lewis,” she wrote in response to one of the viewers.
Meanwhile, Lauren didn’t seem bothered by the fashion frenzy and looked comfortable as she chatted with Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw.
The two presenters talked about their new Channel 4 show called The Great Home Transformation, which also happens to be a partnership with IKEA.
While Nick was in the studio with Lauren and Jermaine, Emma went online virtually
The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One.
