Media personality Nick Ndeda announced on Saturday June 25 that he would be making a return to radio after taking a break from showbiz for nearly a year.

In a statement from Ndeda, he revealed that he had joined national broadcaster KBC and would be the prime minister of the breakfast club show at KBC Services in English.

The political and current affairs program was relaunched with the media personality on the air for three hours.

“I was taught to never say never, so here we go! This time we’re doing it for the country! The all-new Breakfast Club; fast, stylish, fun. 6:00-9:00 a.m. he declared.

Ndeda will join veteran journalist John Karani, who single-handedly runs the show. He will bring his industry experience to attract the broadcaster’s audience.

The state broadcaster has suffered dwindling fortunes over the past two decades, going from a dominant television and radio audience to near obliteration with less than 2% of the radio market share.

Part of the criticism has been that KBC stations have been notoriously slow to keep up with market trends – including relying on the same presenters who were on top two decades ago. Ndeda’s signing is part of a new effort to bring fresh blood to the English service.

He was greeted at the station by some of the presenters including Catherine Ndonye, who hosts the sunset, and some of his fans who have followed him throughout his career.

“Ndeda is back home. Your breakfast club never be the same again. Welcome home brother,” Ndonye wrote. “My favorite is back. In me you have a lifelong fan who never gives up on you,” Kelvin Jomo wrote.

The renowned journalist took a break from the spotlight in January 2021 after resigning from Kiss FM After two years. Before Kiss, he was a presenter at XFM, an entity of the Radio Africa group, for seven years.

Nick’s media career spans almost 15 years. He started his journey as a presenter in 2007 after joining at Homeboyz Radio as a substitute breakfast show host as well as a daily youth empowerment host.

He moved to hot 96 in 2010 where he doubled as assistant program controller and radio host. He had a brief stint on television where he hosted The Great Kenyan Bake Off on KTN.

Additionally, he boasts of a prolific acting career, appearing on local shows. Selina, and Higher Education and South Africa MNet’the show Jacob’s Cross.

Ndeda was named Best TV Host at the 2020 Kalasha Awards. Following his resignation from Kiss FM, he focused on creating content on his YouTube channel and runs a podcast.
