ITV Love Island fans praise Laura Whitmore for outfit details after show’s big change

Love Island finally returned to screens on Monday night (June 6) for another summer of love, but it was host Laura Whitmore who gave the praise. The presenter made her first appearance of the 2022 series on the launch show as she headed to the new villa for the first pairing.

This year there was a major reversal as decision making was taken out of the hands of the Islanders. Instead, the public voted which of the girls – Paige, Indiyah, Tasha, Amber and Gemma – should be paired with which boy – among Dami, Liam, Ikenna, Andrew and Luca – for the very first time.

And the twists didn’t stop there as Love Island’s first bombshell has already been thrown into the mix in the form of David Sanclimenti. The new boy made his entrance just as the sun began to set on the first day at the Love Island villa.

But back to Laura – and the TV presenter was spotted heading towards the new version of the now-famous Mallorca villa as she prepares to meet this year’s contestants while wearing an all-red outfit. And mega fans of the ITV dating show may recall that Laura originally wore the red vest-style outfit in 2020, when she presented the Winter Love Island finale.

Originally a top and pants combo with an additional long-sleeved blazer, the 37-year-old recycled the outfit, ditching the sleeves for the high-necked cardigan, which forms a heart shape across her chest, and cropped the legs pants to make nice shorts.

Sharing a close-up of her style for the first episode on Instagram, Laura said, “Details. We did something a little special with an old favorite! #relove.” The mum-of-one also shared a TikTok video of her dancing around the villa two years ago in the first version of the outfit before breaking some moves in the new version at the new heart-shaped entrance of The villa.

And that impressed the fans. Lily Williams said, “I loved it the first time you wore it and I love it now.” Andrea Kristina commented, “Yaaaas upcycle! You’re a gorgeous girl!” Lesley Copeland replied, “I said it was reworked! It was amazing!”

@dais_ej tweeted, “Love that Laura Whitmore recycled a previous #loveisland outfit.” @darrenbtw wrote: “Tweet of appreciation for Laura Whitmore for wearing the final outfit of 2021 again to promote #LoveIsland reuse & sustainability.” @BethanyGHills added, “Looks like Laura recycled a previous outfit and it’s great to see!! Loved it as a costume 2 years ago and love it even more as #LoveIsland shorts and vest. “

It comes after Love Island made a major change to the clothes the islanders wear. For the first time, ITV has teamed up with eBay and instead of being treated to a brand new wardrobe before entering the famous Spanish villa, contestants will be filmed donning pre-loved clothes with a common wardrobe also located in the new villa.
