David Platt has long been the fan-favorite antagonist of Coronation Street.
The troublesome character has been on the show since 1990 – and he’s continued to play a part in the soap’s biggest storylines, with viewers even seeing him tormenting his own family.
Gail Platt’s son is played by actor Jack P Shepherd, who took on the role in 2000.

But what does his life look like away from the cameras?
The award-winning actor, from Pudsey in West Yorkshire, got his start in the Yorkshire drama Where the Heart Is.
Jack, 34, has had stints in theater and recently opened up about how he missed his chance at Hollywood success as a youngster.
He had auditioned for the hit film, Billy Elliot, which came out in 2000 – the same year he made his Corrie debut, the Mirror reports.
However, he failed the audition and Jamie Bell landed the famous role and ended up winning a BAFTA.
During an episode of his Sofa Cinema Club podcast, which he hosts with fellow Corrie stars Colson Smith and Ben Price, Jack said: “When this movie came out I was 11 to 12 years old and I was obviously from an audition.
“I was disgusted in the sense that I didn’t get it because of the success the movie got – the Oscar nominations. And I used to watch the Oscars religiously, getting up in the middle of the night to watch them.
“So when you see a movie that you auditioned for, it could have been you and you could have been there, it’s kind of like…”
He added: “Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I would have put on as good a performance as Jamie Bell.”
Colson said, “But you wish you had that chance?”, to which Jack replied, “Well, I had the chance and I blew it!”
Jack has previously opened up about the pressures of being in the public eye since he was a child, having joined Corrie when he was 12.
He underwent a second hair transplant in 2020 after admitting his hair loss had shattered his confidence, with the stress of ‘hurtful’ comments from people on social media pushing him into action.
Jack said at the time: “I know some people will say I’m incredibly vain to have a second hair transplant so soon after the first.
“All I can say is I had to do it for my long-term mental well-being. I’ve been at Corrie for 20 years now – since I was 12.
“I know I’ve been incredibly lucky and love working with such a fantastic group of actors, but relentless schedules take a toll on your mental health, especially when you’ve been through as much trauma as David Platt.
“People are interested in how you look on social media every day and some of those comments really hurt.”

When it comes to his actual love life, Jack is often seen on dates with his gorgeous girlfriend Hanni Treweek.
The pair have been together since 2017 and originally met on the set of the long-running soap when Hanni was working as a screenwriter.
Talking about how they met, Jack said OK! magazine “We met in Corrie but only really knew each other to say hello at work.
“Then our mutual friends got married and we were both invited to the wedding. We chatted, I made Hanni laugh, we had a few drinks and we flirted. That was it.”
During the interview, they both described themselves as their “soulmate”.
The star was previously with Lauren Shippey, his childhood sweetheart of 15 years. They share two children together, son Reuben and daughter Nyla.
Jack shared how he feared introducing his young children to Hanni at first.
“I was worried that Hanni would end up as a Disney villain and be seen as a horrible stepmother,” said Jack OK!
“We had been together for about a year before they met. You don’t want to introduce a new partner to young children too soon because anything can happen.
“I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but Nyla immediately gravitated towards Hanni – they both love fashion and makeup. Reuben liked her straight away too and they quickly started to asking if Hanni would be there when I picked them up.”
