Dan Walker shares green screen incident as he hosts Olympics

BBC breakfast presenter Dan Walker made a simple but silly dress error this morning by breaking a major green screen rule during the Olympic breakfast presentation.

The 44-year-old host wore a green shirt to work, which meant he blended in perfectly with the green Tokyo background and appeared like a floating head.

Due to the pandemic, presenters and hosts were not allowed to travel to Tokyo to present the 2020 Olympics and instead use a green screen background of the city and sports arenas.

Posting on Instagram, Dan captioned the hilarious photo where his whole body blends in perfectly with the background as follows: “I found out today why we are not allowed to wear green in the studio of BBC Olympics #FloatingHead #GreenScreen #OlympicBreakfast #Olympics “

The post drew hundreds of comments, with most people joining the funny, laughing faces, including Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Oti Mabuse.

Currently Dan is hosting the Olympic breakfast, instead of the regular BBC breakfast, due to the time difference between the Tokyo Olympics.

BBC Breakfast will return after the Olympics are over where you’ll see Dan back on the red sofa and not blending in with the background.
