BBC officially announces Sally Nugent as new BBC breakfast presenter Prolific North


BBC Breakfast, based at MediaCity, Salford, has officially announced that Sally Nugent will be its new regular host on the morning news show.

In the new role, she will host the TV show alongside regular presenters Dan Walker, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt Monday through Wednesday.

She will “take the reins” from BBC Breakfast host and reporter Louise Minchin, who worked on the show for almost 20 years and officially left the show in September.

Nugent was born in Birkenhead, Merseyside, and started her career at BBC Radio Merseyside.

She worked as a journalist for 25 years, holding various positions at the BBC including BBC North West Tonight and BBC News, and worked with the BBC Breakfast team as a sports presenter for over a decade.

His appointment follows obtaining BBC documentaries and exclusive interviews with stars including Marcus Rashford MBE.

Sally Nugent said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be the new BBC Breakfast presenter and bring the nation the latest news, the best entertainment guests and the stories that matter every week. It’s an honor to take the reins of Louise and be part of the UK’s most watched breakfast show.

BBC Breakfast editor-in-chief Richard Frediani said: “We are delighted that she takes her new permanent place in the studio alongside Dan, Charlie and Naga.”
