Actor Eli Bradley dodges question about MCU return

Although Captain America hasn’t been the main character in an MCU movie since 2016, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier shed light on Sam Wilson’s take on the star-studded hero. This series set the stage for Captain America 4 first and foremost, but he also created a young new hero in Elijah Richardson’s Eli Bradley.

Richardson played only a minor role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier alongside his on-screen grandfather, Carl Lumbley’s Isaiah Bradley, appearing in three of the series’ six episodes. Even though it was only a few minutes of total screen time, his role is expected to grow even further in the years to come, as Eli Bradley is a key member of Marvel Comics’ Young Avengers.

The big question now regarding Eli Bradley’s return is where it will come from specifically, especially with Anthony Mackie’s. Captain America 4 in the early stages of development by Marvel Studios.

Now, during the press tour for his latest project, the actor behind Eli has offered his own thoughts on the subject at hand…sort of.

Eli Bradley Star Avoids Captain America 4 Question

In a press interview with Comic Book Movie’s Josh Wilding for the star girl press tower, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Elijah Richardson was asked about a potential return as Eli Bradley in Captain America 4.

When asked if he hopes to become a Patriot at some point in the future, especially for the upcoming solo Captain America movie, Richardson answered the question saying “No comment” before smiling shyly at the camera:

His star girl the castmates also touched on the idea of an intro to the MCU, with Grace VanderWaal saying “Fuck yeah!” and Tyrel Williams suggesting the idea of redoing star girl “but as a superhero this time.”

When will Patriot return to the MCU?

With such a small introduction in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Eli Bradley looks set to play a bigger role in the future of the MCU as the franchise continues to grow, regardless of when he becomes a superhero. And even though Richardson is avoiding the subject this time around, there’s no doubt he’s ready to reprise his role whenever he gets the call to dress up as Eli again.

Last year, Richardson shared in an exclusive interview with The Direct how he researched the character, particularly with its ties to Captain America’s legacy and his place as the Young Avenger. While he’s keeping his options open as to where this role will go in future projects, it’s clear he’s done his research on the character and is ready for whatever comes next.

As for Captain America 4, the new solo film is still in the early stages of development; only Anthony Mackie and head writer Malcolm Spellman are officially on board to push it forward. If Eli Bradley joined the party, he would apparently be a natural choice, but it will still be some time before more information is revealed about the direction of the film.

All episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are streaming on Disney+.
